Investor Calls on Cambodia Justice Ministry to Intervene in YY Capital Case

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia β€” A shareholder in YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has formally requested that Cambodia’s Ministry of Justice intervene in a growing dispute involving the company’s chairman, Yamada Taihei. In letters sent to authorities, the investor accuses Yamada, a Japanese national, of embezzlement, fraud, and breaches of trust that allegedly harmed investors financially.

The letters claim that Yamada orchestrated inflated real estate transactions in Cambodia, with preliminary findings indicating that around $4 million may have been diverted for personal gain and the benefit of others connected to the deals. The investor also alleges the creation of fictitious business transactions, including loans totaling more than $7 million, alongside document forgery and large-scale cash diversions through shell companies controlled by Yamada and his associates. Some of the funds, the letters say, were transferred to an overseas account in the name of Yamada’s wife, Ye Jun.

Further allegations state that Yamada established multiple shell companies across Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and Cambodia, using nominees to conceal his control over related accounts and financial operations.

The letters highlight that Cambodian prosecutors have already filed charges in at least two criminal cases against Yamada and others, with certain assets and bank accounts frozen under court orders. Investigations are reportedly ongoing, with authorities in several countriesβ€”including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Statesβ€”looking into allegations of embezzlement, document forgery, breach of trust, and money laundering.

The investor urges Cambodian courts and officials to ensure a full and impartial investigation, warning that potential interference could allow suspects to avoid accountability, intimidate witnesses, or destroy evidence.

YY Capital Partners and Yamada Taihei have not issued a public response to the allegations.
